The main point of prayer is not to fulfill a religious obligation, but to get in touch with God. In John 15, Yeshua teaches us that we are branches that must be connected to him, our vine. Prayer is one of those ways that we connect with God and drink in His joy, strength, and shalom (peace). When we don't pray, we become like a lifeless branch separated from the sap of life.
Daily Prayers
Abba, Father, I enter into this time of prayer to truly be near you. “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul after you, God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.” (Psalm 42:1-2a)
I will extol you, my God, the King. I will praise your name forever and ever. Every day I will praise you. I will extol your name forever and ever. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised! His greatness is unsearchable. (Psalm 145:1-3)
(Silence your heart before God until he fills you with words or songs of worship.)
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; For his lovingkindness endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods; For his lovingkindness endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of lords; For his lovingkindness endures forever: (Psalm 136:1-3)
(Silence your heart before God until he fills you with gratitude, and then thank him for all he has done!)
Above all else, I thank you for Yeshua the Messiah, whose sacrifice paid the debt for my sin and whose resurrection has given me eternal life!
Have mercy on me, God, according to your lovingkindness. According to the multitude of your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity. Cleanse me from my sin. (Psalm 51:1-3)
(Confess your sins and receive God’s forgiveness. Allow him to cleanse your heart and mind. Allow him to help you forgive others.)
I gratefully thank you for the forgiveness that is mine through the atoning blood of Yeshua the Messiah! I know that I am clean and forgiven because of your great love and mercy! Please give me the strength to live in righteousness.
Baruch sheym, kevod malchuto le-olam va-ed Hear, Israel: the LORD is our God. The LORD is one. Blessed is the name of his glorious Kingdom forever and ever.
O Lord, you are the only God! I love you with all of my heart, mind, soul, and strength. I submit myself to your will, your ways, and your voice. Speak into my life and bring me into fullness of joy in your kingdom!
(Silence your heart before God until he brings to mind those requests for yourself and others that you need to bring before him.)
Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your kingdom come. May your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen. (Matthew 6:9-12)
.עֹשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם בִּמְרוֹמָיו, הוּא יַעֲשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם עָלֵינוּ, וְעַל כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאִמְר: אָמֵן Oseh shalom bimromav, hu ya-a-se shalom aleynu, ve-al kol Yisra-eyl, ve-imroo: ameyn He Who makes peace in the heights, may He make peace upon us, and upon all Israel, and we say: Amen.
By the power of your Spirit, help me to walk in your ways, meditate on your words, minister your love to those in need, and declare with confidence the glory of Yeshua our savior.
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, LORD, my rock, and my redeemer. (Psalm 19:4)
